In 1961, fifty years ago, a group of African-American and white students decided to defy the laws of Southern states that segregated transportation. They boarded buses in Washington, D.C. and rode south to Alabama and Mississippi. They attracted angry mobs, which in some places, burned buses, rioted and attacked the riders. This year, those rides were re-enacted to celebrate the bravery of the riders and victory of the civil rights movement. One Las Vegan got to go on that ride and he shares his experience.
