The city of Las Vegas has spent many years encouraging redevelopment in and around downtown - Union Park, The World Market Center and The Fremont Street Experience. But, writes Las Vegas CityLife reporter Amy Kingsley, the West Side has wasted away. Kingsley and photographer Justin Yurkanin developed a multimedia package -- text, photos and video that has just won the AltWeekly Awards "innovation/format buster" award for telling that story. We talk with the pair as well as West Las Vegas resident Brendan Green, about the sorry plight of neighborhood.
