Christian Scott, Jazz in the Park

He's been called an "architect" of jazz fusion, and "jazz's young style god." Whether it's by design or deity, Christian Scott is taking the trumpet to new levels. He mixes jazz, rap and hip hop together with tributes to Bob Dylan and Thom Yorke. And he throws social commentary into the mix: his latest CD touches on racial profiling, gay marriage and abortion. The New Orleans musician plays on June 5 as part of the Jazz in the Park series. We talk to him about breaking boundaries as jazz's newest generation.

He will be performing on Saturday, June 5, at 8 p.m. The show plays at the Clark County Amphitheatre as part of the Jazz in the Park Series. The event is free.
