Afghanistan through a Military Photographer's Lens

A boy peers over a crumbling wall beneath a tangle of barbed wire. Sergeants kick up dust, running and pointing their guns. And a lieutenant shows local children his soccer tricks. These are the photos of Staff Sgt. Larry Reid, and this is what life looks like for him in Afghanistan. He's the military photographer for a NATO training mission, and he's just returned home. He talks about his photos and his collaboration with a UNLV faculty member. What does a life of guns, children, and prayer mats look like through a photographer's lens? How does it change one's perspective? Join us for a special conversation on the war overseas. Below is a sample of Staff Sgt. Reid's photography. See more.
