Poetry Recitation Audio Postcard

Do you remember that kid in grade school who knew every line to "Casey at the Bat?" Or could recite "Charge of the Light Brigade" and capture everyone's attention?

Well, those might be the students from clark county school district. A few of them tried their oratory chops on stage last month for the "Poetry out Loud" National Recitation Contest. They pulled out old favorites by Robert Frost and Shakespeare, and took the road less traveled with some modern poets.

The three winners were Kimberley Goss of CSN High School, Isabelle Bellinghausen of Green Valley High School, and Avion Phillips of Shadow Ridge High School. They will be competing at the state level in Reno this Saturday.

Our Producer, Irene Noguchi, stopped by to listen and brings us this audio postcard.
