LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada's new execution chamber worth nearly $860,000 in Ely is complete, but it's expected to sit idle for some time.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that while the Gov. Brian Sandoval supports keeping the death penalty despite a lack of execution drugs, one lawmaker was to ask voters whether the state should repeal it.
Democratic Assemblyman James Ohrenshcall tells the newspaper that Nevada voters should weigh in because death penalty cases cost over $1 million, according to an audit.
If he's successful, the question would appear on the ballot in 2020.
