Las Vegas Municipal Buildings To Be Powered By Renewable Energy

Las Vegas' municipal buildings will be powered by renewable energy by 2017, the city and NV Energy announced yesterday.

In a release, the city said a currently under construction solar farm will supply Las Vegas' municipal buildings with electricity, pending approval from the state Public Utilities Commission.

The city said that, if the deal is approved by state regulators, Las Vegas will be the largest city in the country to use renewable energy exclusively to power municipal operations.

The solar farm that will supply the city's power is being built near Boulder City, and will have a capacity of 100 megawatts.
