LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say they have shut down two suspected brothels in a Las Vegas residential neighborhood and arrested a man and woman facing charges of alleged sex-trafficking and prostitution.
Members of the Southern Nevada Human Trafficking Task Force and the Las Vegas Police SWAT team made the arrests Wednesday.
42-year-old Javier Garcia-Rodelas and 41-year-old Edelmira Beltran-Blanco are accused of multiple counts of compelling an adult into prostitution and taking what the prostitute earned. Beltran-Blanco is also accused of sex-trafficking.
Police say the brothels were in homes in the 1800 and 2300 blocks of Walnut Avenue northeast of downtown Las Vegas.
Online records didn't indicate if Garcia-Rodelas and Beltran-Blanco have attorneys yet.
Police say the agency and task force members have been investigating the suspected brothels since February.
