SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — For the first time since Nevadans voted to legalize it 15 years ago, medical marijuana is being sold in the state legally.
More than 75 people with state-authorized medical cards lined up outside the Silver State Relief dispensary in Sparks before it opened Friday, to be among the first to buy as much as a half-ounce of pot for $195.
Voters approved medicinal marijuana in 2000, but the measure lacked language to establish a system to sell or distribute the drug. Until two years ago, anyone authorized had to grow their own — up to 12 plants per person — or find it some other way.
