California State University's Desert Studies Center at Zzyzx is on the shore of dry Soda Lake, south of Interstate 15 between Barstow and Baker in California. They have history and natural history classes throughout the year. It's "Insects and Other Arthropods of the East Mojave Desert" May 17-19 and "Lizards
& Snakes of the East Mojave" May 24-26.
