Study desert birds, natural history at Zzyzx

California State University's Desert Studies Center at Zzyzx is on the shore of dry Soda Lake, south of Interstate 15 between Barstow and Baker in California. They have history and natural history classes throughout the year.

"Birds of the Mojave Desert" will be held October 8-10, with "Natural and Cultural History of the Mojave National Preserve" October 15-17. Cost is $295-$350, which includes food and lodging. All the details are here.
